• FEDERATION
OF EUROPEAN CHOIRS
The choir was appointed to represent
Malta together with other children’s choirs representing their own countries
within the European Union. Mr. Lino Attard, the choir’s Music Director,
will attend meetings of the Board of Choir Directors in Brussels being
held during the month of April 2002.
• HOLY
WEEK
“Ikun li Trid Int” - original lyrics and music by Therese Cassar and
Manwel Mifsud - has been arranged for the Cantores Sancti Juliani
(four-voice treble choir), organ and guitar by Lino Attard and Fr. Tony
Agius. Various choristers from the choir’s ranks will undertake solos
and there will be short readings between one station and another.
Performances will be held on the following dates and venues:

2002 at the Parish Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Gzira. Performance
starts at 7.30pm

Tuesday 26th March
2002 at the Mother of Good Counsel Church, Paceville. Performance
starts at 7.30pm

2002 at St. Julian’s Parish Church. Performance starts at 7.15pm

Maundy Thursday 28th March
2002 at the Immaculate Mother of the Church Parish ta’ l-Ibrag. Performance
starts at 8.15pm

"San Giljan Tax-Xitwa", at the St. Julian's Parish Church.

Ta' l-Ibragg Parish Church on the occasion of the commencement of Fr. Tony's
Pastoral work as Parish Priest of the Parish.

Christmas/dinner dance party was
held for the choir members and parents at the Imperial Hotel, Sliema.
Presents were distrubuted by Fr. Tony Agius (the Choir's Hon. President)
and Mr. Lino Attard, the Choir's Master, to all choristers and the choir's
main assistants.

A joint Christmas
Concert with the St. Paul's Choral Society was held at the St. John's Co-Cathedral.
This was organised in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority.

In Memoriam - Mass and Concert -
a tribute to Elvia at 6:30pm at the St. Julian's Parish Church. This was
a very well attended concert in which the choir excelled in its presentation.
Among works that were very much at Elvia's heart, the choir performed for
the first time Benjamin Britten's Missa Brevis in D Opus 64 in which soloists
Jonna Sultana, Yana Azzopardi, Elisa Borg, Lara Tanti and Nicholas Dimech
took part.

A concert with the Russian Children's
Choir, the DETSTVO GIRLS CHOIR - 2nd place winners at this year's Malta
International Choir Festival - was held at the St. Julian's Parish Church.

We hosted
the Choir of the St. Hedwige Cathedral (Berlin) with whom we sang a joint
concert at Mdina Cathedral. The German Choir had excellent words
of praise for the Cantores Sancti Juliani so much so that they invited
the Choir to sing in Germany later on next year.

| The Choir hosted the Grand Choir of Holland and participated in a joint
concert at St. Julian’s Parish Church on Thursday 7th June at 7.15pm.
The Grand Choir of Holland also sang during the 11am Mass at the Mdina
Cathedral on Sunday 10th June, and gave a choral concert at the same Cathedral
on Monday 11th June at 7.30pm. |

The choir sang at the Wedding Ceremony of Miss Kiran Mohnani, which
took place at St. Domenic’s Parish Church, Rabat, Malta.
• Saturday 12th May 2001 - 7.30pm
Concert of Sacred Works at St. Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral under
the direction of Lino Attard. The Choir sang a selection of “a cappella”
works. Accompanied pieces where also included and Elisabeth Conrad
accompanied the choir at the Organ. The Malta Tourism Authority commissioned
this concert.
• Wednesday 9th May 2001
The choir was the backbone of the National children’s choir that was
formed to take part in the beatification ceremony by Pope John Paul II,
sang various hymns for the occasion.

The choir sang at the Wedding Ceremony of Miss Juanita Ebejer and Mr.
Joseph Midolo, which took place at Zabbar Parish Church.

Easter Vigil at the Mother of Good Counsel Church, Paceville.
• Thursday 12th April 2001
On Thursday 12th April the choir gave a full performance of the popular
Maltese Cantata “Ikun li Trid Int” at the Mother of Good Counsel Church
at Paceville after the Maundy Thursday function at the same church.
This was a meditation of the fourteen Stations of the Cross and there where
short readings by members of the community at the Paceville Millennium
Chapel. Solos where undertaken by Nicholas Dimech, Yana Azzopardi,
Joanna Sultana, Elisa Borg, Tiziana Tedesco Triccas, Anne Marie Bonello,
Stephanie Gouder and Karen Darmenia, “Ikun li Trid Int” original
lyrics and music by Therese Cassar and Manwel Mifsud has been arranged
for the Cantores Sancti Juliani (four-voice treble choir), organ
and guitar by Lino Attard and Fr. Tony Agius.
• Wednesday 11th April 2001
On Wednesday 11th April the choir led the congregation’s singing from
St. John’s Co-Cathedral during the National Pilgrimage organised by the
Archdiocese of Malta presided by His Grace the Archbishop Mons. Joseph
Mercieca. Popular religious hymns where rendered so that everyone
was able to take active part during singing at this national religious
manifestation.

• Friday 9th February2001
A 30-hour vocal and instrumental classical music marathon kicked off
on Friday at the Amphi Theatre in Bay Street, St George's Bay, St Julian's
to help young Zachary Micallef who needed to undergo medical treatment
abroad with a performance by soprano Marita Bezzina and pianist Leanne
Baldacchino Anastasi, and ended on Saturday at midnight.
The marathon featured well known local and foreign artists as well as
the Cantores Sancti Juliani. Bay Street Operations Ltd, F. Zammit Nurseries,
Marsovin LTD, G&M Deguara and PEG Publishers sponsored this event.
• Wednesday 24th January 2001
Feast of St. Julian (San Giljan tax-Xitwa). Choir performed during
the Mass at St. Julian’s Parish Church at 6.30pm.
• Saturday 13th January 2001
Mass at St. Julian's Parish Church at 7.30pm for the repose of Miss
Elvia Agius, Foundress of the Choir who went to meet the Almighty last
month today.
• 11th January 2001
The choir participated in a concert at the Manoel Theater's Foyer on
the occasion of the Eighth Ambassadors Meeting organised by the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs. The choir's rendering was in memory of the choir
Foundress Miss Elvia Agius who worked at the Ministry as Private Secretary
to the Minister of Foreign Affairs the Hon. Dr. Joe Borg. A selection of
Maltese folk and “a cappella” sacred works where performed.
• 30th December 2000
Christmas Carol Concert at the Mother of Good Counsel Church in Paceville
commissioned by the Malta Tourism Authority.
Concert started at 7.30pm. The choir was accompanied by Elisabeth
Conrad at the organ and by Fr. Tony Agius at the guitar. The concert
was under the direction of Lino Attard.

Local Council.

Christmas Eve Carols and Mass at the Mother of Good Counsil Church,
Paceville. Service started at 10.30pm.
