The Studio was instrumental in the formation of young opera singers – some of whom are now established in the local operatic field. Among these (to mention a few) one would find the familiar names of Sopranos: Tanya Parlato Trigona, Joan Cassar, Yvonne Galea; Tenors: Brian Cefai, Josef Aquilina (who has continued his studies under Tenor Paul Asciaq), and Arthur Micallef; Bases: Tony Montebello and Noel Galea
Opera Studio gave these Singers the opportunity to persue their studies in Malta instead of having to go abroad for professional vocal formation and tuition. The Studio carried out its activities at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology in Valletta and gave four operatic productions at the Manoel Theatre in four consecutive seasons. Opera Studio enjoyed the artistic direction of Emy Scicluna and Mr. Joe Fenech and the music direction – initially, of Mro. Brian Schembri, and later of Mro.
