Join our Vocal Ensemble !

We have recently started to organise an SATB group to compliment the existing SSAA Choir. SATB stands for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.

This idea, which was advocated by the parents of our children, is very interesting. When our existing SSAA members of the Cantores Sancti Juliani reach a certain age, they shall be able to continue with their activity in choral singing within the professional environment of our organisation. These choristers have received years of training and the experience gained in their early childhood till their teens will be further developed within the SATB structure.

The two choral formations will be distinctive from one another, and will give different concerts on their own as well as together when tackling works that require both choral formations. Indeed this is all very exciting!

Although we have already a number of adult singers who have joined the SATB formation, the new choir is in its early stages of development. Incidentally these founder adult choristers include parents of our children as well as other friends who come from the parish of ta' L-Ibrag.

The choir is currently undergoing vocal formation and has a lot way to go to reach the standards that this discipline demands. However, the Choir Master, Lino Attard who has a proven record and experience in this field is optimistic that high professional standards will be achieved in time. As our friend and music critic Cecilia Xuereb rightly wrote in her preview of our concert held in December 2001, choirs are not built overnight. Indeed, it takes years of preparation and development.

If you are interested in joining the adult SATB Choir, you are invited to join us. One word of advise: reading music is an asset, however, if you don't, do not be discouraged as all members are given coaching in music reading and vocal training. The only requisite that you MUST have, though, is commitment - the rest will follow!
